Laying quality foundations in the early years are crucial to a child's development. The aim of the nursery school is to help nurture this development, and for individual children to attain their full potential by providing a full and varied educational programme. Each individual child’s needs are taken into account for the activities to encourage each child to develop further, but at their own pace.
In the nursery school the educational providers introduce a wide range of skills and range of activities to help your child achieve their full potential, in accordance with the national curriculum.
The children are encouraged to participate and contribute to the schools day and routine.
Assessments will be carried out on the nursery school children during every term to ascertain each individual child's development. A Stepping Stones profile record will be maintained to record your child's achievements within the six areas of learning. This information will be made available to pass on to their school setting.
Each child will be at different levels of development and the staff will be aware of each child’s capabilities.
The stepping stones profile also helps you when your child starts full-time education, as they may be shown to the reception teacher.
The profiles are also available for you to look at any time, so feel free to ask one of the staff to show you and go through the things that have been assessed.
All children aged 3 years+ are eligible for the Nursery Education Grant from the first term following their 3rd birthday. This allows the child to have 2 1/2 hours per day of free nursery education. Please enquire.
