The nursery has a self-contained baby unit consisting of a sleep room, playroom, dining room and a separate room for babies aged 6 weeks to 12 months for their comfort and safety.
In the baby unit we work within the birth to three matters framework. It identifies aspects which celebrate the skill and competence of babies and young children and highlights the interrelationship between growth, learning, development and the environment in which they are cared for and educated. The babies are encouraged in all the stages of their development through different types of stimulation, these include large play toys, colourful wall displays, talking, singing, play centres, hand painting, water play, sticking, colouring, etc. The activities are planned on a weekly basis and are available for parents to see.
The baby unit has a wide range of toys available for the babies to play with, and there are a large number of cushions and soft areas for them to sit on. The sleep room has a number of cots for the babies to sleep in and one member of staff is always present when they are sleeping.
The babies sleep patterns are discussed with the parents before they start Nursery, as is feeding. The staff try to carry on in the same routine as the parents as much as possible as not to disrupt the baby.
The staff will keep you informed of all milestones reached by your baby, and a daily report sheet will be given to you when you collect your baby.
