Whilst your child is in the Tweenie group, the main areas of development will be focused around social skills. Social skills are a very important part of anyone’s life and helping to develop the social skills at an early age is very beneficial. We work within birth to three matters which is a framework to support children in their earliest years.
The birth to three matters framework recognises that all children have, from birth, a need to develop, learning through interaction with people and exploration of the world around them.
The framework focuses on the child and steers away from subjects, specific areas of experience and distinct curriculum headings, and recognises the 'holistic' nature of development and learning.
Simple educational tasks such as colouring, identifying and exploring letters, numbers, shapes and colours are encouraged along with plenty of craft activities.
A daily report sheet will be given to you on collection of your child.
ASSESSMENTS
The Tweenies are assessed on a regular basis with simple assessment sheets that are available for you to see at any time. When the children move up to the nursery school the assessment sheets are discussed fully with the school staff. This gives the nursery school staff a guide to what the children are capable of and what their levels of development are. The assessment sheets are also a good source of information for parents.
